William A. Morgan is a managing attorney in the Estate Administration Department at Cushing & Dolan, where his practice focuses in estate administration, estate planning, gift and estate taxation, tax controversies and closely held businesses. Bill guides families through the estate administration process where he advises and supports families working through the probate process and in administering their estates by providing advice on estate tax matters, income tax matters, additional estate planning and wealth transfer matters involving family businesses, trusts and investments. Bill works directly with individuals, families, fiduciaries, and their professional advisors to protect their estates and plan for their next stages, minimizing tax burdens to help shape and implement families' visions for their futures. Prior to joining Cushing & Dolan, P.C., Bill practiced estate planning, tax controversy and corporate law, and additionally worked as a tax professional in public accounting working for Deloitte & Touche, among other firms.

Representative Matters

• Advised, created and implemented tailored estate plans for clients whose net worth exceeded over $100 million, utilizing trusts, business structures, and insurance planning to achieve clients' tax, estate, and wealth preservation goals.
• Identified and recommended improvements to international client's cash management with its foreign subsidiaries, resulting in $10 million of savings to the client.
• Provide private client services to high and ultra-high net worth clients including real estate and corporate management and transactions, service as corporate officer and trustee, execution of gifting and wealth transfers, as well as promissory notes and loans, preparation of individual state and federal income tax returns.
• Interpret trust and estate planning documents and advise with respect to fiduciary powers and duties, dispositive provisions, beneficiary rights, standards for distribution, and tax treatment.
• Provided tax compliance services to families and their businesses for complex business, individual, estate and gift tax related matters, including complex multi-state income tax matters.
