Todd E. Lutsky, graduated from the University of Toledo School of Law in 1991 and obtained a Masters Degree in Taxation from the Boston University School of Law in 1992. He joined the public sector as a tax attorney with the international accounting firm of Price Waterhouse LLP. In 1994 he entered the private legal community to focus on sophisticated estate planning and wealth transfer techniques. In 1995 Mr. Lutsky joined Cushing and Dolan, P.C. a law firm that was established in 1984 and currently employs 24 attorneys. His initial concentration was in the preparation of estate plans, including the use of revocable trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts and family limited partnerships, all used as techniques to pass wealth, protect assets, maintain control over your assets and reduce the estate tax burden. He expanded his practice to include business planning through the use of cross purchase agreements, stock redemption agreements, majority shareholder split dollar life insurance agreements and Deferred Compensation agreements. He has further expanded his practice to include tax and financial planning for the elderly, which covers the ins and outs of obtaining governmental long term care assistance, Medicaid planning and preservation of assets through the use of fair hearings. Finally, he has resolved numerous tax controversy cases by means of an offer in compromise, an installment agreement or by obtaining an abatement of taxes and penalties, and has resolved responsible person cases with regard to withholding tax liability. Mr. Lutsky has also given numerous seminars for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and the Foundation for Continuing Education on such topics as "How To Complete Estate Tax Returns", "Fiduciary Income Tax Returns for Estates and Trusts". In addition, he has given seminars entitled "Income Tax Refresher" which included information on the 1997 tax reform act, and "Tax Issues Associated With Divorce" for the Foundation for Continuing Education. He also co-hosts in the spring and fall each year a lecture on "how to complete estate tax returns" for the Foundation for Continuing Education. He has also participates in the Massachusetts Bar Associations Elder Law Week in which he lectures on the topics of Medicaid eligibility and long term care planning. Mr. Lutsky has also been the guest speaker at the Dexter House in which he lectured on asset protection and Medicaid eligibility issues. He also provides his expertise as a regular guest expert on the talk radio show entitled "Money Matters " in which he answers questions regarding how to protect assets from the cost of long term care, Medicaid eligibility issues, how to avoid probate and other tax and estate planning matters.
